WOW air, Iceland’s low-cost airline announced that it is the first low-cost carrier to fly transatlantic from Dublin, with a new low fare route to the USA for Irish passengers. Beginning October WOW air will fly to Boston and Washington, via Reykjavik Iceland, from Dublin Airport.

Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, offering the cheapest connection between Dublin and North America.

Last October, WOW air announced that the airline would fly from Dublin to Reykjavik, offering the first ever direct scheduled flights between Ireland and Iceland. This route begins on 2 June next.

The airline, founded in 2011 by Icelandic entrepreneur Skúli Mogensen, flew its one millionth passenger in December 2014.

Announcing the new route, Skúli Mogensen, CEO of WOW air, said:

‘We are thrilled to be able to offer our WOW prices for Irish passengers travelling between Dublin and North America. Our aim is to transform low-cost transatlantic flights and make travel to the US affordable for everybody,’ he said.

WOW air was ranked among the best low-cost airlines in Europe at the 2013 and 2014 Skytrax World Airline Awards and was the youngest airline in the top ten.

WOW air will fly three times a week from Dublin to Boston Logan International Airport and Baltimore Washington International, via Reykjavik Iceland.
