Hamburg Airport presents winter timetable
|The new winter timetable comes into effect at Hamburg Airport on 26 October, 2014. It is valid until 28 March, 2015. Around 65 airlines fly to more than 120 destinations. “Together with the airlines, we have once again put together a widely varied portfolio for the coming season. The commitment of our many partners enables us to offer attractive and diverse destinations,” says Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport.
To the royal city of Marrakesh with Germania
Germania continues to expand its commitment to Hamburg. From 4 November, the airline is flying to Marrakesh every Tuesday and Friday. The city in southwestern Morocco, known as “the Pearl of the South”, has never been served directly from Hamburg Airport before. And a popular Atlantic destination is also being added to the winter timetable too: Madeira. Germania is flying to the island of floral delights every Sunday, starting on 2 November. From March 2015, Germania will be flying twice a week to Tel Aviv and once a week to Paphos on the island of Cyprus.
TUI links Hamburg with the Caribbean again
If Hamburg gets too cold for you in the winter, you once again have the option of simply fleeing to the Caribbean. TUI’s three non-stop flights each week make it possible, two of them to Punta Cana and one to Cancún. Passengers from Hamburg fly non-stop on-board a long-haul jet from TUI’s British sister company, Thomsonfly, non-stop to the Dominican Republic and Mexico. TUI depart for Punta Cana every Tuesday and Saturday through the winter months. And for those who like to combine a beach holiday with culture, Cancún is perfect. Flights to Cancún in Mexico take off every Sunday.
EasyJet expands Hamburg base
Starting on 3 November, 2014, the airline is flying to Amsterdam up to six times each week. November also sees the launch of additional flights to Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Geneva, Krakow, and Salzburg. In March 2014, easyJet opened a permanent base at Hamburg Airport. Since then, the airline has expanded its Hamburg route network from six to 19 destinations. A third aircraft will now be permanently based in Hamburg to serve the new routes.
Flybe is back
The British airline has returned, resuming operation of the Hamburg – Birmingham route with the start of the winter season. There will be one flight every day to the UK’s second-biggest city. Flybe was active at Hamburg Airport until September 2012 – operating the service to Birmingham.
Gothenburg, Porto, London City and Mannheim new in timetable
Thanks to Czech Airlines, passengers from Hamburg can once again get to Gothenburg. The airline, which already flies from Hamburg to Prague, added Sweden’s second city to its timetable in September. There are daily flights to Gothenburg from Monday through Saturday. And starting this winter, Ryanair is flying from Hamburg, a brand new airline for the airport. The Irish low-cost carrier is operating to two destinations, Lisbon and Porto. Starting at the end of October, British Airways will fly twice daily, Monday to Friday, to London City. The flights are operated on BA’s behalf by the Danish franchise Sun-Air.
The new service between Hamburg and Mannheim will also be of interest to business travellers. Rhein-Neckar-Air launched the service on 14 October, operating the flights morning and evening on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with a Dornier DO-328.
