Swiss tour operator Hotelplan announced its customers will fly next year with Germania instead of czech Travel Service Airlines (within Europe) and Edelweiss Air (to Egypt). Scheduled operations will commence in March 2015.

The new yet unnamed airline is a joint venture between Hotelplan and Germania. The project name is Germania Flug (Zurich), but internally it is called „HolidayJet“. The new venture needs to be a swiss airline so it can operate from switzerland to non-EU countries too.

In the past defunct Hello flew for Hotelplan. After the collapse Hotelplan found Travel Service to overtake the flights in Europe. For flights to countries like Egypt Hotelplan is forced to book Edelweiss flights. But they are 20 percent costlier. This could be the reason for talks with Germania. In july the german airlines submitted an application for an Air Operators Certificate to the swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA).

In anticipation of the launch next spring Germania has begun hiring flight crews. At least one Airbus A319 will be transferred to the new swiss subsidiary to operate leisure charter from Zurich. Maybe with the swiss cross on the tail.
