Austrian Airlines will once again add new tourist destinations to its fight schedule in 2015. Starting on June 20, 2015, Austria’s national carrier will fly once each week to Mahon, the capital of the Spanish Balearic island of Menorca, and offer five weekly flights to Miami as of October 16, 2015. “We are expanding our offering to tourist destinations in both the medium-haul and long-haul segments. In the summer we are increasingly focusing on Spain alongside Turkey and Greece with Austrian myHoliday. We are putting an emphasis on sunny long-haul tourist destinations in the winter season featuring Mauritius and now flights to Miami”, explains Austrian Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Andreas Otto.
Starting on October 16, 2015, Austrian Airlines will operate a Boeing 777 aircraft on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to Miami. Accordingly, the airline now offers a sixth destination in North America in addition to its existing flights to New York, Newark, Washington, Chicago and Toronto in Canada. Flight service will be offered to Miami throughout the entire year. The duration of the flight to Miami, a distance of 8,400 kilometers, will amount to nine hours and 40 minutes. “The strong expansion to North America in recent years was a complete success. With Miami we are once again adding a new long-haul destination, consistently continuing with our business strategy” CCO Andreas Otto adds.
Austrian myHoliday is once again adding a new holiday destination in Spain to its summer 2015 flight schedule. Starting on June 20, 2015, Austria’s national carrier will depart once a week to Mahon, the capital of the Spanish Balearic island of Menorca. This means that in addition to Mallorca and Ibiza, Austrian myHoliday now offers flight service to all three Balearic Islands.
Flights to Mahon, a distance of more than 1,300 kilometers from Vienna, will be offered on Saturdays, with the airline deploying a Dash-8 Q400 aircraft. The duration of the flight from Vienna to Menorca will be about two hours and 35 minutes. In this way Austrian Airlines is expanding its route network to a total of eight destinations in Spain. In addition to Menorca, Mallorca and Ibiza, Austrian Airlines now flies to Barcelona and the Canary Islands of Las Palmas, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
The destination of Menorca will be served on a seasonal basis between June 20, 2015 and September 19, 2015.
