Air Europa joins ALTA as Associate Airline
|Air Europa is the latest airline to join the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) as an associate airline.
Air Europa belongs to the Globalia group, the biggest tourism conglomerate in Spain and their goal is to be the reference airline to fly between Europe, America, and the Caribbean.
The airline currently has a fleet of 45 aircraft, including eleven Embraer 195, 20 Boeing 737-800 and 14 Airbus 330-200. These last ones are the ones operating the company’s long-haul flights. Last December its’ CEO, Mr Juan José Hidalgo officially announced the acquisition of 22 new aircraft Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Eight of these aircraft will be the 787/8 series and the other fourteen 787/9 series. These will begin joining the fleet between 2016 and 2022, progressively replacing the Airbus 330-200. As to the new Boeing 787s incorporate Air Europa’s fleet, the company will open new routes to almost all the capitals in South America which currently does not operate, such as Asunción, Bogotá or Mexico DF.
Air Europa has its headquarters, as well as its’ own hangar for maintenance, in Palma de Mallorca, although its’ connections hub is located in terminals 1, 2 and 3 of the Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas airport.
