WOW air, the first ultra-low cost carrier to bridge North America and Europe, makes its inaugural flight to BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport from Iceland May 8.

“Wow is committed to providing customers incredible values on flights to Iceland and Europe from BWI,” said Skúli Mogensen, WOW air’s founder and CEO. “We want to be known for offering the best service in the industry at the cheapest price. Our mission is to provide lower prices than anyone else flying to and from Iceland and across the Atlantic. As a result, demand has been enormous for our trans-Atlantic service to and from Washington, Baltimore and the surrounding Mid-Atlantic.”

The airline will offer roundtrip service at BWI four days a week from May 8th through June 3rd, and five days a week thereafter.

The airline will help satisfy the growing demand for international air access in the region by offering non-stop flights five days a week to Iceland from BWI and opening up more opportunities for international travel, business and tourism.

“International service continues to climb at BWI Marshall Airport,” said Paul J. Wiedefeld, Chief Executive Officer for BWI Marshall Airport. “The addition of WOW air further strengthens our position as an international gateway that offers convenient, efficient service and low fares.”

The airline will fly to Iceland from BWI with connecting flights to European capitals that include London, Berlin, Copenhagen and Paris. Connecting flights to Dublin and Amsterdam begin June 1st. Connections in Iceland take place in the same compact terminal, with connection times of no more than 90 minutes, and no need to re-enter security clearance.
