Swiftair orders up to 8 B737-400 freighter conversions

Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) announced that Swiftair S.A. has selected AEI to provide eight Boeing 737-400SF passenger to freighter conversions. The contract calls for four firm orders plus an additional four options.

The first aircraft, built in 1991 (MSN 24438) is a high gross weight 737-400 and is currently being modified at Commercial Jet Inc. in Miami, Florida, which is an authorized AEI Conversion Center. The second aircraft (MSN 24445) is on location in Miami and will commence modification in mid-September. All eight aircraft will be modified at Commercial Jet Inc. in Miami, Florida.

AEI’s 737-400SF will provide Swiftair with a Main Deck capable of carrying multiple ULD’s including:
(10) 88”x125” ULDs or
(10) 88”x108” ULDs or
(8) 96”x125” ULDs and
(1) 53”x88”x64” Pallet or AEP/AEH or 60.4”x61.5” AKE/LD3 or 61.5”x88”x56”H AYY in P11

This unique flexibility has been designed by AEI to allow the operator to immediately adapt to multiple ULD configurations at a moment’s notice. When combined with proven reliability, the AEI Converted 737-400SF will allow Swiftair to keep their aircraft where they belong – “In the air, generating revenue”.

Founded in 1986 and based out of Madrid, Spain, Swiftair is a private airline company specializing in air freight and passenger operations. The company currently has more than 400 employees and has a fleet of more than 40 aircraft which include B737, MD-83, ATR72/42, Embraer 120 and Metroliner.
