Swedish defense and security company Saab AB (Publ.) and California based conversion engineering specialist PACAVI Group announced that Saab Aerostructures will be the manufacturer of the main deck cargo door including surrounding structure for PACAVI’s A320 and A321 passenger-to-freighter aircraft conversion program. Saab will also provide support during the design phase.

PACAVI Group CEO Dr. Stephan Hollmann commented: “We are excited to add a world-class aeronautics company like Saab to our group of international contributors to PACAVI’s A320/A321 Freighter LITE program. This is just the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership to bring a new line of reliable, cost-effective and customizable freighter aircraft to the market”.

“We look forward to join PACAVI on this interesting project in which our deep expertise and competence in designing and manufacturing aircraft doors will be used and further developed”, said Magnus Falk, Vice President and Head of Business Development, Marketing & Sales of Saab Aerostructures.

Passenger-to-freighter conversion of PACAVI’s Airbus A320 Freighter LITE prototype, started in January, is progressing on schedule at the HAITEC facility in Frankfurt/Hahn (Germany). PACAVI and partner GAMECO will commence conversion of the A321 Freighter LITE prototype in the fourth quarter of 2015 at GAMECO’s facility in Guangzhou (China).
