Cimber Air will shutdown operations in April 2015 following a decision by SAS Scandinavian Airlines not to renew its existing ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) contract.

Co-owner, Jørgen Nielsen told local media: “SAS didn’t want to continue our current contract on four CRJ-200 airplanes from April of next year, and with that, the foundation for our continued existence has collapsed.”

At present SAS uses four Bombardier CRJ200 and one ATR72 turboprop on several routes throughout northern Europe.

The danish airline was established in 2012 after bankruptcy of Cimber Sterling. Cimber Air flies exclusively for SAS Scandinavian Airline.
