Cargolux Airlines has completed a cooperation agreement with Oman Air that creates new opportunities for the Luxembourg-based carrier in sea-air freight transport from Oman’s modern port facilities and, at the same time, benefits the economy of the Sultanate of Oman. Cargolux freighters will use Oman Air’s facilities in Muscat.

New Link Between Europe And India

The agreement includes an introduction of Cargolux’s full freighter services from Luxembourg to Chennai, India, via Oman. The first flight operating under the cooperation agreement will leave Luxembourg on
15 April and arrives at Muscat airport on 16 April. Additionally, Cargolux’s customers in Oman benefit from fast and reliable connections across the airlines worldwide network.

Cargolux intends to expand its Oman flights during 2015 to several weekly services with onward connections to multiple Indian cities including, but not limited to, Chennai, Bombay and Hyderabad. Additional connections to China, Europe, Africa and the United States are also planned.

Oman offers an attractive geographical location with both established and newly constructed sea-port facilities. Oman Air also provides Cargolux with access to the belly capacity of its passenger fleet that fly to 11 destinations on the Indian continent as well as Eastern Africa, giving the Luxembourg airline the opportunity to feed consolidated freight to Oman from a number of larger markets.

The signing ceremony of the agreement with Oman Air will take place on the occasion of the first Cargolux flight’s arrival in Muscat on 16 April.
