Alitalia resumes direct service between Italy and South Korea

Alitalia has resumed direct services between Italy and South Korea after more than 20 years, thanks to the new flight from Rome to Seoul, capital of the fourth Asian economy.

The first flight on this route took off from Rome tomorrow, June 4, when Alitalia unveiled its new brand design, livery and service offering at major events at Rome Fiumicino Airport.

The new flight to Seoul will be operated on a three times a week for the 2015 summer schedule. From the beginning of the winter schedule at the end of October, flights on this route will be increased with an additional service, to make a total of four flights per week.

Alitalia will operate this new service in conjunction with codeshare partner, Korean Air, the main Korean airline and partner in the SkyTeam alliance,which has added its “KE” code to the service. Alitalia already has its “AZ” code on the Korean Air service between Seoul and Rome and Milan. Together, the two airlines provide a daily service between South Korea and Italy.

Thanks to the codesharing agreement with Korean Air, passengers travelling on the Rome – Seoul route can continue, on Korean Air flights, to 10 destinations in South Korea (Pusan, Taegu and Ulsan), in Japan* (Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo, Okayama, Fukuoka and Niigata), and in Indonesia* (Denpasar). Benefits for passengers also include the opportunity to earn and redeem MilleMiglia miles of the Alitalia MilleMiglia program on flights of both airlines.

From Rome Fiumicino airport, flights to Seoul will take off every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 3.00 pm, landing in Seoul at 9.25 am (local time) the following day. At the end of October an additional service will be added on Tuesday.

Flights from Seoul will depart every Monday, Friday and Sunday at 1.30 pm (local time), landing in Rome at 7.05 pm. At the end of October an additional service will be added on Wednesday.

On this route Alitalia will operate an Airbus A330 aircraft configured in three travel classes: Magnifica (business), Classica Plus (premium economy) and Classica (economy), with a total of 250 seats.
