Posten Norge A/S – the Norwegian Postal Service – and West Atlantic AB have agreed to a new contract for domestic air transportation of mail. The agreement begins in August 2015 and expires in July 2020. West Atlantic will operate six BAe ATP and two Bombardier CRJ on behalf of Posten Norge.

Historically, Posten Norge A/S and West Atlantic signed the first two plus two year contract for airport-to-airport delivery of Mail within Norway in 2007. Thereafter, during 2011 the contract was re-tendered and West Atlantic was awarded the contract for two plus two years again. The award announced today succeeds that second contract and adds another five years of service, with options of annual extension thereafter for a possible maximum duration of eight years.

Posten Norge A/S conducted a competitive public procurement for the transportation of domestic mail products by air. Following a rigorous evaluation of technical aspects, pricing, and other factors in the offers, Posten Norge A/S determined that West Atlantic’s proposal represented the best value. The new contract benefits postal customers by providing service improvements, and other planned operational improvements for up to eight years.
