Swiss wants to replace some older Avroliner-Jets with with new and much more fuel efficient Embraer E-Jets. Originally these jets should be replaced with the brandnew Cseries from manufacturer Bombardier.

But the manufacturer has some problems with the production and certification of the new plane. Now Swiss (via Lufthansa) will receive its first CS-100 early next year.

At the end of this year the first Avro RJ100s have to go to the costly C-Check. This doesn’t make sense, Swiss told. So four jets will be grounded.

To make up Swiss will use four Embraer 190 operated by Helvetic Airways. The source of these jets are still unknown. At the moment the fleet of Helvetic consists of six older Fokker 100 and one Airbus A319.
