In 2014, airberlin was able to increase its number of passengers and transported more than 30 million passengers for the fifth year in a row. With 31,716,202 passengers, Germany’s second-largest airline welcomed 0.6 percent more passengers on board in yearly comparison.

The revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) in airberlin’s worldwide flight route network increased to 49.270 billion (previous year: 48.575 billion), i.e. an increase of 1.4 percent over the previous year. The available seat kilometers (ASK) for the January to December period amounted to 59.031 billion kilometers (previous year: 57.251 billion). Capacity utilization for 2014 reached 83.5 percent (-1.4 percentage points).

The available seat kilometers (ASK) for December amounted to approximately 4.0 billion, i.e. 6.5 percent more than in the corresponding month of the previous year. The revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) increased by 3.3 percent, to 3.1 billion in yearly comparison. Capacity utilization for December amounted to 79 percent (-2.4 percentage points). The slightly lower capacity utilization is a result of the expansion of the available seat kilometers due to additional and new connections within the long-haul flight route network.
